If your answers are yes to the above questions, KERA (Key Elements of Realising Aspirations) is designed for your child.
Going through this program a student will identify her/his career orientation and callings, her/his strengths and passion areas. Her/his life’s objectives and means to fulfill those objectives. S/he would explore and get insights on how to translate her/his favourite hobby/passion into a vocation and life’s purpose. A child will learn to fulfill her/his monetary and non monetary goals through their passion and interest.
The intervention is carefully designed and customised for each child. It will help a child to strengthen and leverage her/his strengths and to develop perspective to live life successfully, meaningfully and with content.
We believe that bucketing individuals suitable for specific career based on couple of psychometrics tests is an old practice. Psychometrics can at best be a good starting point of understanding an individual.
Since both nature and nurture play important role in shaping an individual. At Drishtikon we offer support to the child and parents to arrive at the decision on their own, going through the scientific process involving multiple data points and coaching approach.
Usually our choices are based on influence, pressure and exposure that we have around us. We forget our own-self. We do not make an attempt to understand self and match our strengths, passion, values, orientation and preference while deciding a career/primary source of earning. Many of us realize later in life that we are not into a profession of our choice.
Some of us are fortunate and not bound by circumstances to change the chosen path later in life. However, research indicates that most individuals pursue their passion at best as a hobby. Constantly fighting with self on the compromises made or accepting the constraints as destiny. Many times, as parents, one wants to live ones own dream through their kids and the cycle continues.
At Drishtikon, we work with children involving friends, parents, teachers and significant others in enabling the child to arrive at her/his callings. Support the child and parents in thinking through and planning for leveraging strengths for achieving excellence in the chosen path. Helping a child to realize her/his passion into a career. Here the child and the family is not connecting for one time psychometric based verdicts. It is a long term connect with Drishtikon with series of scientific approaches for supporting the child in translating passion into a fulfilling profession.
KERA starts with a range of different psychometric assessment tools. Psychometric assessments provide psychological insights on different aspects of individual’s personality, behavior and preferences. There are varied range of assessment instruments available meeting the same purpose. These instruments are based on different theories. At Drishtikon, we have researched 100 different instruments and chosen the most reliable and valid test. Also we do not depend on one specific instrument, we use range of psychometric instruments to unearth and validate the findings. Any psychological and social instrument cannot be 100% accurate. The findings from the psychometric instruments are the beginning or one source of data about an individual. If couple of instruments indicate in direction, it is likely to be the right direction. We start our journey of exploring one’s passion using generic psychometric instrument on personality and later customize and confirm our findings using specific instruments needed specifically for the individual.
Psychometric Instruments are just the beginning and supportive data for the journey an individual will set with us.
We involve the significant others in life of the child to share their feedback about the individual. We believe that people who observe the child and experience the different sides of her/his behavior have rich data/observations to share about the individual. One cannot ignore those. We use a structured method and confidential approach to collect the feedback on the individual using a 360 degree feedback approach.
We simulate environments and design experiential activities for the child to experience the different challenges and areas of interest. We use scientific and well test approach of assessment and development center (used in corporate settings for identifying potential high performing employees) to make further observations about individual.
The experiential activities involve series of activities and instruments to help individual experience close to real situations that they may face.
We ask the individual to note down her/his own views about self in a structured format on various aspects of their passion, dreams, personality preferences etc.
Based on all the observations, feedback, psychometric results and self reflection we create a report on the individual and get into conversation with the child.
Understand the missing links if any in the earlier process, and also ask further probing questions in a gentle way lead them to discover their passion on their own without making any suggestions. The belief is that if the child chooses his/ her passion on own the child will be more determined and happy.
After the agreement is arrived on the passion area, the discussion shifts on how to realize/translate the passion into a meaningful and fulfilling profession. This involves gentle hand holding of self exploration and discovery of the methods to realize one’s passion into a profession. The exploration and homework is done by the child and significant others. We guide using structured approach.
We work on perspective shaping of the child, parents and some significant others in the coaching session.
KERA has options for associating with Drishtikon at different levels. We understand that there may be constraint of commitment for the entire process.
Therefore, the entire process has been divided into different levels. Parents have the flexibility of combining preferred levels and decide on the nature of association. Definitely each level adds additional inputs and value to the entire process of identifying one’s calling. However, parents can have discussion with our counsellors to decide the level or levels of engagement and the reports that one would get.
